Lancaster County Career & Technology Center has undertaken to construct four homes on lots subdivided off their Mount Joy campus. Primarily, the “community education project” is designed to educate their building trade students in cutting-edge technologies and practices which are sweeping the nation. Also, the project is looking to raise awareness of green building in the Lancaster community. Exciting stuff!
As readers know, I have been advocating green building and energy efficiency for over a year now and have made it a centerpiece of my business. I’ve been absolutely delighted to get to know Kim Patrick of the LCCTC and hear her enthusiasm for the project she is directing. The school received grant money from the National Association of Homebuilders Research Center and other interested organizations. The first of the four homes is well underway. If you’re interested in more info on the homes and maybe, just maybe you’d like to be the lucky first owner, contact me.
