Southwest Lancaster City
Southwest Lancaster City is also called Prospect Heights. It was first called Prospect Heights was after a small subdivision at the southwest corner of Wabank and Fairview Avenues. This part of the city has lots of hills. Architecturally, Prospect Heights exhibits moderate diversity. Houses throughout the majority of the area are small duplexes, detached houses, or row homes, often built of concrete block with brick veneers. There are several early-twentieth century bungalows scattered throughout the area, and a few houses dating from the 1800s.
There are two elementary schools in this neighborhood: Lafayette and Hamilton. Lafayette Elementary School, located at 1000 Saint Joseph Street, was named after General Lafayette.

Hamilton Elementary school, 1300 Wabank Road, serves over 350 K-5 graders.
There is a small park in this area called Grant D. Brandon City Park located on New Dorwart Street.
Two of the churches in this are Brightside Baptist Church (515 Hershey Avenue) which is host to Bright Side Opportunity Center whose mission statement is this: Develop youth mentally, spiritually and physical through culturally diverse programs; Promote and engage in economic development by initiating and mentoring small businesses; and Foster wellness and self-sufficiency for the greater community.
Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation (64 Hershey Avenue) who just had their yearly weekend festival with all kinds of Greek food over 10,000 people take part in. The annual bazaar, which began nearly 50 years ago, raises thousands of dollars for local charities, including Hospice of Lancaster County, the Crispus Attucks Center, and shelters for abused women and children.
There are many shops in this area including the Manor Shopping center which is home to a Regal Movie theater, Weis Market, Ruby Tuesdays, Guitar Center and many others.
